Lea Boban
Lea Boban is a Croatian volleyball athlete who serves as a Middle-blocker for the Austrian club SVS Post Schwechat. She has achieved notable success, including a bronze medal at the Women’s European Universities Volleyball Championship, as well as a bronze medal in the Women’s Croatian League and a runner-up position in the Croatian Cup, where she was recognized as the Best Middle-blocker.
Born on February 7, 1998, in Rijeka, Croatia, Boban began her volleyball journey with the local team ZOK Rijeka, where she showcased her skills and potential.
Boban made her professional debut in 2015, initially serving as a reserve for ZOK Rijeka in the Croatian League. During that season, she was selected to represent the Croatia U19 national team at the European Championship Qualification U19 in 2016. Unfortunately, her team faced relegation to the Croatian PRVA League that year. However, in her second season, they triumphed in the Croatian PRVA League, securing their return to the top division. During this time, she was also called up to the Croatian U20 national team for the World Championship European Qualification U20 in 2017. In the 2017/2018 season, she contributed to her team’s bronze medal finish in the Croatian League and a 5th place finish in the Croatian Cup. The following season, 2018/2019, saw further progress as the team claimed silver in the Croatian Cup, with Boban earning the title of Best Middle-blocker, while they finished 4th in the Croatian League.
In 2018, she participated in the Women’s European Universities Volleyball Championship for Sveuciliste u Rijeci, where she helped her team secure a bronze medal, although she primarily played as a reserve.
In 2019, Boban relocated to Belgium, signing with Modal Charleroi Volley. During her sole season with the club, she achieved a bronze medal in the Belgian Cup and a 6th place finish in the Belgian Liga A.
Lea Boban relocated to France in 2020, where she joined the prestigious club Stella Calais Volley Ball for a single season. The team concluded the season in 10th place within the French Elite. In the following season, she transferred to another French club, Sens Olympique Club VB, where they achieved a 7th place finish in the French Elite.
In 2022, Lea Boban moved to Montenegro and signed with the local team OK Herceg Novi. During her sole season with the club, she accomplished a remarkable feat by winning both the Montenegrin League and the Montenegrin Cup in the 2022/2023 season. Additionally, she participated in the Challenge Cup with the team.
In 2023, Lea Boban signed with her current volleyball team, SVS Post Schwechat, to compete in the Austrian League for the 2023/2024 season. The team earned the bronze in the Austrian League and finished 5th in the Austrian Cup. Meanwhile, she moved to HAOK Rijeka CO to play in Croatia, finishing 5th in Croatian Cup and 12th in Croatian League.
In 2024/2025 season, Lea Boban signed with Murov Az Terminal to play in Azerbaijan Superleague.
